Jane Faulkner
Artist on-line at the cornerHOUSE
Kew based artist Jane knew from a young age that she wanted to go to Art College. After an Art Foundation year at Gloucestershire College of Art and Technology, she went on to complete a BA Hons in 3D Design in Brighton, a craft-based course using wood, metal, ceramics and plastics, producing pieces influenced by her weekly life drawing classes.
Jane then moved to London for post-graduate secretarial training, so as to be able to get a ‘proper job’. There followed a hiatus of over 20 years, filled by making a living and starting a family, and any creative activities took a firm back seat.
Eventually, once her second child started full time school, it felt like time to reconnect with her past love. Jane began attending life drawing classes, and is still loving them more than 12 years later. The life drawing expanded into life painting in acrylic. She also dabbles occasionally with plant, flower and landscape painting, but always returns to the rewarding, though frustrating, discipline of life drawing.
