A talk on the archaeology of the Orpington Area. Orpington has been inhabited since palaeoloithic times and a mesolithic site has been found in Priory gardens. The talk will discuss the evidence for Roman and Anglo-Saxon activity around Orpington and St Mary Cray. The Orpington and District Archaeological Society is currently excavating at Scadbury Moated Manor, Chislehurst and has excavated other Medieval and Tudor sites in St Mary Cray where they have also undertaken timber framed building recording.
The talk will be by Michael Meekums, Site director of the excavations at Scadbury Moated Manor.
