A warm welcome back to partners in life and music,
dynamic Devon based folk duo Harbottle & Jonas are one of the most exciting acts on the UK circuit today, combining a love of the richness of traditional folk with their own original and powerful song writing. Dave and Freya have developed a distinct and compelling signature sound, blending concertina, harmonium, cittern, stomp box, acoustic guitar and banjo with their beautiful and closely intertwined vocal harmonies.
Tickets are £14 and are available on-line in advance from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/FolkthecornerHOUSE
Folk@thecornerHOUSE is a monthly series of concerts showcasing the best in folk music. The aim is to present a wide variety of performers in the wonderful intimate setting of The Corner House. Each evening will have a main guest with a supporting act to start. There are too few venues in Surrey providing outlets for the dazzling wealth of talent available on the folk scene and this venture will hopefully go a long way towards filling that void.

Come and join Express CIC for a great night of comedy for a great cause!
Following sell-out shows at the Soho Theatre, London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Josephine Lacey’s AUTISM MAMA heads out on UK tour.
Welcome to the world of a mother, caring for a pubescent teenager – who happens to be autistic.
A fascinating and hilarious stand-up show about a single mum guiding her autistic son through the first stages of puberty. Expect visual aids, balloons, and a heart-warming insight into the relationship between a mother and her son. A show not to be missed!
Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh:
‘The straight-talking comic’s debut hour is cheerfully rude and glowing with maternal love, as she describes parenting a son with autism’
Supported by:
Kelly Ford (MC)
Kelly Ford, a rising star on the UK comedy circuit, has been making audiences laugh at renowned clubs like Komedia, Glee, Top Secret, and Up the Creek.
A Funny Women ‘One to Watch’, Up the Creek Blackout Winner, and a Not So New Comedian Finalist (2022 & 2024), Kelly Ford has also caught the eye of the industry landing on the Channel 4 Sean Lock Award longlist (2024).
When not tearing up comedy stages, she’s been seen on BBC Three’s “Things Not to Say to a Pregnant Person” and E4’s “Rage Room”
A powerhouse MC, she’s hosted shows at Underbelly’s iconic Spiegeltent, Screaming with Laughter and beyond. And if you’ve ever tuned into Soho Radio, BBC R4 Woman’s Hour, The Everything Project, or The Motherless, you’ve likely heard her dulcet tones (or unfiltered opinions).
Mags McHugh (Opener)
Originally from Ireland, Mags has performed comedy across the country before making her mark on the UK and European circuit. She received four-star reviews at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe for Blacksheep and Snack Chat, was runner-up for ‘Not So New Comedian of the Year’ in 2022, and was named ‘One to Watch’ by Funny Women Dublin. Now based in London, she continues to perform at renowned clubs across the UK and beyond.
Show starts 8pm
End around 10:30pm

Richard is on a mission to rescue his best friend, Charlie, from the post-divorce doldrums, and with a big wedding just days away, he insists Charlie needs a date. Richard’s solution? Secretly sign Charlie up to a dating site.
Charlie reluctantly agrees to meet Adèle, a dazzling and mysterious Frenchwoman, and for the occasion puts on his unworn Humphrey Bogart fedora. But Richard doesn’t trust Charlie not to ruin the whole thing, so he follows him—disguised with a hat of his own, of course!
What Richard doesn’t plan for is his own date, Calista, showing up early. Not only is she at the wrong bar, but she also has a suspiciously keen interest in Charlie and Adèle. And then there’s the waitress, who seems determined to get in on the action.
With cocktails, comedy and confusion galore, A Beautiful Friendship is a laugh-out-loud romantic escapade. Through a series of disguises, mistaken identities and simply pretending to be somebody you’re not, the play asks: how do you actually be yourself? And in this day and age, can love still be found—or at least stumbled into?
Will Charlie and Adèle sail off into the sunset together? Can Richard keep Calista away from temptation? And will the waitress finally steal the show? Find out in this hilarious rom-com for the ages!
A brand new play by Second Act.

Event Details
What began in 1995 as a ground-breaking union of musicians and instruments, has continued as a unique musical offering through one live album, four studio albums and countless outstanding performances. A new recording is due for release in early 2025. After 30 years Flook show no sign of letting-up in their brilliance, their dynamism, or their inventive flair.
The band early on evolved an inimitable trademark sound and hold fast to their rightful reputation as exceptional musical innovators; the whistles and flutes of Brian Finnegan and Sarah Allen, the guitar of Ed Boyd and the bodhran of John Joe Kelly weaving and spinning tunes rooted in tradition over precise acoustic grooves, with a rare blend of fiery technical brilliance, delicate ensemble interaction and a bold, adventurous musical imagination.
There is an ever present abundance of individual virtuosity amongst Flook’s four members, but there is also something wholly unique when this iconic Anglo-Irish band step on stage together, their playing always an intuitive, almost symbiotic, exchange between the various flutes, whistles, frets and skins. An evening and a celebration you don’t want to miss out on.

Building on our successful cornerHOUSE “Write it…then write it better” workshops in October 2021, we’ve formed a playwrights group to help each other improve our writing for the stage.
Participants are invited to offer a draft scene/script/part script (5-15 pages) for table-reading and discussion. We plan to meet every six weeks and will usually have time to work on 3-4 such pieces per session.
If you don’t have a draft ready to share, we always need readers (you don’t have to be an actor!) and listeners ready to discuss, suggest and provide constructive feedback.
We meet every six weeks, and costs are £5 per session. Attendance at every session isn’t essential, but numbers are limited to 12, so sign up via Ticket Source to secure a place. You’ll then be sent further details and a contact in case you have any questions.

Event Details
Rosie Hood is known for her powerful and clear vocals and captivating performances that combine poetic writing with dynamic and honest interpretations of traditional songs.
Rosie is joined by long-term collaborator fiddle-player Nicola Beazley, melodeon-player and percussionist Robyn Wallace and fiddle-player Rosie Butler-Hall to form The Rosie Hood Band. With experience playing for ceilidhs, dancing and in brass bands, the instrumentalists bring a great dynamic lift and drive, continuing Rosie’s vision of re-working traditional English songs, as well as writing and arranging original material, touching on nature, human struggle, women’s voices and unheard stories. With outstanding musicianship and a deep understanding of tradition, Nicola, Rosie and Robyn’s sensitive playing combines perfectly with Rosie’s voice, skilfully and empathetically lifting each song.

Her love of Gaelic song was nurtured whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Trad roots are close to her heart. With her new album however, Ainsley is exploring new sounds and ideas as she pushes out from these roots to create personal material that encompasses big topics close to her heart, including feminism and equality, while unearthing forgotten stories and places that deserve a voice.
