Sex, Love and Stalkers

Thu 9 - Sat 11 Feb 2012

A new musical romp by Kingston Musical Theatre comes to the cornerHOUSE on February 9 for three nights.
Sex, Love and Stalkers is an adult-themed musical (no under 14s) looking at relationships and fetishes.
Produced by Dean Robertson, with Nic Luker as musical director and Keesha McClean the vocal coach, the company performed Jason Robert Brown’s 13 The Musical in August last year at the cornerHOUSE, to full houses.
This is the first adult production by the company which was set up in 2010 to produce and perform musical shows in the Surbiton area, showcasing local talent.
Eleven local singers have been invited to take part, and ‘an eclectic mix of modern and quirky musical theatre numbers’ have been assembled.
Performers have been drawn from the south west London am dram circuit, including Sutton Theatre Company, Epsom Players, Nemcom, HMOS and After Dark.
Nic Luker explained: “The aim is to showcase some of the talented musical theatre song writers that many people have never heard of, as well as featuring numbers from some of the Broadway shows that have yet to make their way across The Pond.”
They include Young Frankenstein, In The Heights, Catch Me If You Can, and The Book of Mormon.
The show contains adult subject matter, and some strong language, and is performed in cabaret style using a catwalk stage extended into the auditorium.
“There’s something for everyone,” explained producer Dean. “All the music is from musical theatre, some with a jazzy feel, some ballads, some rocky, some comic, some rude, some sad.”
